Thomas Prestia
Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in legal studies from the University of Central Florida and graduated Cum Laude from Barry University School of Law. While in law school, Tom was recognized for his excellence as a recipient of the Book Award in Commercial Trial Advocacy. Tom was also a key member to the school's nationally recognized trial team earning a spot as a semi-finalist in several competitions: The Honorable Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition sponsored by the Florida Bar, and the American Association of Justice Competition. Tom also worked as a Certified County Court Mediator during his years in law school, where he conducted well over 100 county court mediations.
Subsequent to law school, Tom served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office in Miami, Florida. As a prosecutor, Tom tried well over 150 felony and misdemeanor cases, including both jury and non-jury trials. Tom also has experience in civil litigation. Tom represented medical practices as well as individual medical doctors in all facets of civil litigation including: contracts, general tort law, medical malpractice defense, administrative proceedings, including Department of Health (DOH) and Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA) investigations and Medicare / Medicaid complaints.
Tom is licensed to practice law in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar.
